Royal Palace
Overlooking Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace was one of the great residences of the sovereigns who governed Naples. Construction began in 1600 and was designed by architect Domenico Fontana. Behind its long façade lies a succession of frescoed halls, gilded stucco, tapestries, marble, and the famous Grand Staircase, considered one of the most beautiful in Europe.

Piazza del Plebiscito
Piazza del Plebiscito is the largest and most symbolic square in Naples, a vast pedestrian space that connects the historic center and the waterfront. Its name recalls the 1860 vote by which the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies was annexed to the nascent Kingdom of Italy, making this place a historic as well as architectural landmark.
On one side, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola dominates with its imposing semicircular colonnade, on the other the profile of the Royal Palace, while in the center stand the equestrian statues of Charles III of Bourbon and Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies. By day, it is a bright urban lounge, perfect for strolling and photographing, and by night it transforms into an evocative stage, often hosting concerts, events, and large-scale outdoor performances.
